The old priory of El Tallat is a monastery
built on the highest peak the Sierra of El Tallat, towards the
middle of the XIVth century. It inherited the culture of grapevine
started in the times of the Roman Empire, and later abandoned
under the occupacion of the Moors. Because of its elevated location,
it enjoys cold winters and very hot summers with sensible differences
of diurnal and nocturnal temperatures. Furthermore, the introduction
of a variety of other grapes like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon,
Chardonnay and Riesling has yielded the produccion of a wine of
an excellent quality.
